Time just keeps going by….

Wow!! Has it really been almost a month since I posted? Have I gotten lazy? Nope!! Time just flies by when you’re having fun….as in trying to get 4 chapters of math done in a 2 wk time frame while giving 8 tests within a week…okay most of that is true with the exception of the 8 tests in a week…it was two weeks instead.

Soo…here on the home front. Christmas is all around us. Kayla doesn’t really care much about the tree. She looks at it on occassion and tries to crawl under it. She does get the uh uh when she tries to touch it. We bought her a Little People Nativity that she loves….particularly Mary, Joseph and Jesus (she chews on them the most).

She is quite mobile now. Crawling everywhere and into most everything. Pulling up most of the time. On occasion she’ll just hold on with one hand. It’s just fun to watch her scooting across the floor.

I have also been working on a quilt. This is a paying job. I pieced the quilt and mom quilted it on her machine for a friend of mine….it’s actually for her daughter. It turned out beautifully….and I’m sure Alan wanted to steal b/c it is after all in UGA colors!!! Of course he did mention to me that he would like me to finish his….well….it’s only been hanging around mom’s house now for what….3 years? It is pieced…just not quilted. Maybe by next Christmas?

What else?  Little Miss K …..or “The Princess” to some..ahem..inside joke….has been a busy little girl. Of course she has been crawling like I said…pulling up a week before crawling started…she’s now scooting along the coffee table and whatever else is in her way. It’s been so long I just don’t remember everything. This is terrible. I do believe I said she has been saying Dada. Although not saying it to Alan. Friday she said Mama…doesn’t say it much but she has said it. We can ask her (the opposite does the asking) “Where’s Dada?”" and she looks at Alan….ask her “Where’s mama?” and she looks at me. So…..maybe she’ll start saying it with the person it goes to.

Little toofies….well I’ve been waiting and waiting and waiting. Her first two teeth were so easy. I didn’t even know she was teething until they were already poking through. She’s been kind of cranky off and on lately…but without any possible illnesses (other than the explained ones). Today I noticed a new little tooth on the bottom. So soon she’ll have three….not sure about the other one on the bottom let alone the two on top that my understanding come in second. Beats me.

We got Tuesday for our 9 month check up. I do not remember if she gets shots or which one she gets. Not even sure if she’ll get her flu shot since every time we’ve gone in to get it she has had a temp within the last 24 hrs. Hmm….

We had our M-vlle Christmas this weekend. Kayla did well with all of the people. She sat quietly in a lap and just watched. Once everything was done and over with she happily played with her empty box found on the floor. She also took the building blocks she received and put them in and out of the other box. She was having a good time for sure. She also received a ride and walk lion. She can sit on it if I hold her on it. She sort of walks with it…although mostly she stands with it. I’ll insert a picture of that when I upload the picture.

Can’t think of anything else right now. Busy day tomorrow. G/ma is coming for Christmas so it will be a very enjoyable Christmas with just the four of us at home.

Happy Thanksgiving!!

 Here we are just past Thanksgiving!! Munchkin is now 8 months (as of today!!) WOW!! So….Kayla is very mobile!! In fact…she’s discovered the front window and will now stand and pat the glass. I’m not too terribly fond of this by the fact…..she tips over and bonks her head on the glass. If the blinds weren’t in the way…the smaller window would be less “scary” to me. In no way though would I just let her do this by herself. Someone is usually with her. I just realized the pics of this are still on the camera. I’ll get those off and added to this post soon. I went outside and took a picture of her watching me. It was very cute.

Other things….Kayla has been saying “dada” for a while now…in fact…it started the same day as crawling. She also started waving about the same time. It was mostly looking at her hand and waving to her self….but now she’ll do it when someone comes into the room. And as funny as it is….mom would tell us her first word is going to be “Hey!” because we used to say it to her all of the time. Well…..she raises up that hand and says “ahh” (kind of sounds like she could be saying hey). Wonder when she’ll say mama!? Let’s practice honey….say this mmmmmmm……………..mmmmaammma. “prth prth prth….dada!!! “  Okay dear…practice time is over. *sigh*

We had a nice, quiet Thanksgiving. A’s mom came down here instead of us going her house. This is her year for Thanksgiving and then mom’s Christmas Day. The following year…opposite. We tried the round robin at Thanksgiving one time……yea…..ONE time……TOOO much travel in a short time.

Christmas is upon us! The tree is up (done Thanksgiving)….Kayla’s nativity is out (she’s particularly fond of Joseph)…..and yet…..it just doesn’t seem possible it is this near! There are pics also for this still on the camera.

OH!! Another thing Bug likes to do…..she has begun closing her eyes when I go to take a picture. I believe she sees the red light for the flash coming on….so she closes her eyes as tightly as possible and just laughs! Some of the pics turn out so cute just because of the expression…..so hopefully she won’t do this on our Christmas picture. We may just have one like that. We’ll have to see.

Really!?

Has it been that long since I’ve posted anything on here? Really!? Every time I turn around a good bit of time has passed. Let’s see…..what’s been going on here.

Kayla is definitely on the go now! Everywhere…but try to keep her in one room and away from things she doesn’t need to be near. Her favorite thing to do right now is pull up. She tries on everything. She has even managed to stand up and hold on one handed (while leaning toward) to her basket of toys. We’ve had some falling downs though. In fact she had a nice bump on her head from bumping it at day care. I believe she’s keep up with her little friends that are walking around the room now. I can see this is her goal…..oh yea….she told me it was!! She jsut didn’t tell me WHEN she plans on figuring it out. The thing she normally does is act totally oblivious to knowing how to do a particular thing until she’s ready. Last week she ALL OF A SUDDEN “knew” how to hold her sippy cup. Hmm……

Soon after (and in fact I believe it was the same day) Kayla began to say Dada…she does do it while sticking her tongue out…but it’s really cute! So now of course I am practicing the Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm mammma!! LOL! She just giggles when I say mama! Oh well…..I guess I’m just that funny!!

Here’s a pic of her in her ladybug outfit. She was such a cutie!! It was like 100 degrees that day (really probably in the 70’s) so I had to take it off since she got sweaty. Stripped her down to just her red onsie. So she looked cute while it lasted.

 

Oh yea….it’s here….

yep….mobility.  Kayla is beginning to crawl. She’s been trying regularly for a while now…but wouldn’t go but two knees across the floor. This morning she went across the floor. So I have posted a video of her this afternoon and have added it to this post.

Other things….munchkin is pulling up to her feet too. She is doing it regularly at daycare. She bumped her head on Monday and has a little bruise on her forehead. The bumps and bruises I believe are going to begin as well.

Tomorrow we have our fall festival at church. I am hoping the rain will hold out so Kayla can go. She’ll be so cute in her ladybug costume if I do say so myself. We’ll be visiting a couple of people that want to see her in her costume.

Mobility…oh yes….it’s coming..

So…you know how Monday Kayla figured out how to sit up on her own? Well…..now she has decided that makes her a “big girl” so she doesn’t have to take naps. She likes to now sit up in her crib and let you know she’s not happy….even though she’s half asleep doing this. *sigh* AND she sort of “scoots” on the floor but still has one leg where it would be if she were sitting up. I came to school to pick her up on Thursday and she was trying to scoot toward a little boy who had a rather interesting toy to her. So yes….mobility is coming. She’s ready to go..and mommy and daddy are not ready for this!! AHHH!!! I think she might skip walking and just straight to running marathons!

Oh Boy here we come!

Yes….mobility is on its way!! We visited Grandma last weekend and she taught Kayla to get up on her hands and knees. Didn’t take much for her to sit there and rock back and forth. She hasn’t been doing it much at our house. Not sure if it is lack of carpet? Anyway….this weekend we were at Mimi’s house. Kayla had her 6mo pics done…plus a couple family pics done. They turned out too cute!! Of course for those who I know that read this already have the email of the pics.

This morning I sat Kayla on her tummy down on the floor. Alan was on the computer and I turned around to get her some toys to play with. Turn back around and low and behold…..she’s sitting up!! Now…she’s been able to sit up unassisted since she was 5 mos old…actually just before more or less. Now that we are home….she’s done it several times. I finally timed my phone right with her sitting up. I also used the regular video camera and captured her “scooting” across the floor. She was trying to get a toy…but more or less slid(scooted) on her bottom while in a sitting position to it. Very funny.

Quick not

Hmm….we have officially transitioned to the next carseat. Daddy put it in the car last night. Kayla’s feet were just a tad off the end…more like on the back of the seat in the car.

Anyway….on my message board site they were having a pic contest – Baby Idol. Kayla “won” Most Independent. No prize or anything…just for fun. Here’s what she did “get.”

6 Months

I don’t have much to say today. Just don’t feel very literary lately I suppose. Hmm. Anyway….Daddy took Kayla to her appt on Monday. She now weighs 16.12 and is 27″ long. She’s grown 2 inches in the past two months….but 7 since she was born!! That sounds like a lot!! She’s getting long for sure. Anyway….she’s sitting up pretty well now. Still wobbly sometimes but she will ‘catch’ herself a little. Hard to say whether or not she is attempting to crawl or scoot. Partly because she plays on the floor on top of a blanket…which pulls and bunches around her. She twirls around on her tummy though and will get up on her hands and knees. I don’t know of much else very interesting right now. Not that I can think of. Can’t believe it’s October! Looking forward to knews of a niece coming up soon!! HOORAY!!

Peek-a-boo Tales…

Here we are….although now that I am typing I don’t recall exactly what I was going to type. Hmm…

Right now….Miss Kayla has a new friend….okay….so he THINKS she is his friend. They very well could be buddies later. Right now he’s just happy someone isn’t telling him to get out of their lap, etc. etc. Spot loves it everytime we have Kayla on the floor playing. She doesn’t really care he’s there. Sometimes she pays attention and sometimes she ignores him. If her feet happen to kick him he gets closer. Usually I can hear him purrring. He’s a nut! Sometimes Kayla will try to eat him (I see her mouth open going toward his head). Here’s a picture of the two.

Future Buddies?

I tried Kayla’s Fall Festiva costume on after I had washed it. I did not have the entire outfit on (in other words…the leggings and onsie on underneath). She just had herself a good time wearing it….and looked too cute!! Here’s the closest sneak peak you will get…..it’s the shoes after she kicked them off!!

What else has been going on? Today Kayla finishes her antibiotic. I’m glad since she’s been turning things pink after having it. I have discovered dish soap will get most of her stains out – carrots too – as long as I use it and scrub it before washing it. Seems to be working this way and hopefully the carrots will no longer stain her bibs.

Now….Kayla has two teeth. I’m expecting her top two soon (not too soon). My understanding is they come in about a month or so after the first two. She’s had these almost a month already. They look too cute even though I can tell they aren’t all of the way of the way out yet. I also bought her a toothbrush. I had been using one of those gum brushes but I wanted to go ahead and get her used to an actual toothbrush. I really don’t know when the are suppose to start using paste….but nothing but the brush is being used right now. Here are two pics from this topic.

A couple of weeks I bought some sweet potatoes for Alan and I to eat for dinner. So….I went ahead and bought some for Kayla too! I cooked them….and smooshed them…..then froze them in her little cube trays (1 ounch portions). Once frozen, I vacuum sealed them into two ounce portions and out them back in the freezer. Now I just have to remember they are there. I also have apples I need to do for her too. I just haven’t done anything yet. Hopefully soon. I only have two trays so I have to really think about how many apples to use to make her applesauce.

Last week when Kayla was sick I realized that I now have a tummy sleeper. Every time I’d go in her room to check on her she’d been on her tummy. I snapped this pic while she was taking her nap yesterday. She normally doesn’t have her feet up under her. It was very cute!

Now…the name of the post is peek a boo tales. You may be wondering why that? well…..little missy can play peek a boo now!! Yes…shocking since it’s so early it seems. She tucks her head down in your arm pit and if you say “Where’s Kayla?” She’ll all of a sudden lift her head up with this big grin on her face ….which is then when we say peek a boo! Now….thinking about Christmas pictures….I pulled out Kayla’s UGA hat…and put on her new UGA jacket (Daddy picked it out)…..and took some pics. This one just was too cute!!
