Ok…so my sister now has me posting more. I think partially because she said I hadn’t posted in over a month. Am I making up for it now? Probably. I don’t feel like I have much to say. The weather is yucky and cold (no snow….being in the south I don’t expect it). Could be worse…..

Today I had a ‘party’ to go to….smocked clothing. Found Kayla’s Easter dress. This dress will also be used at Alan’s niece’s wedding in May so it is a little bit more dressy than what I would get initially. I still like it and think Kayla will look cute in it either way )     (of course I do….I’m suppose to think that way!)

Easter Dress

HOPEFULLY it will arrive in time. It’s suppose to be 6 wks-ish. I do not recall on the previous party it taking that long….while there I had Kayla ‘try’ on a bathing suit too…just for kicks. It was a size 2T.   I think bathing suits for Kayla are going to be like they were for mommy. If I was to purchase….she would have needed a 3T. Hmm….the 2 JUST fit her with just a little room…but not alot. Maybe the other brands (like at Belk or Penny’s or something) would fit her at her ‘normal’ size. We’ll see. It’s still too early to determine.

Not much else. Hard to believe it is already the middle of February….almost to that 1 month to a birthday mark!! WOW@!!! That is just hard to believe but yet seems so normal at the same time.

Ok….so Kayla now has 5 teeth. 4 are completely through and one of her top teeth FINALLY came through. Just waiting on the other.

Yesterday…Kayla was playing with her letter sound thing (magnet…sticks the fridge and sings the sounds of each letter…she loves it). It’s on the back of the front door since it is more out of the way in this location (we hardly ever use the front door). Anyway…before it was time to go to ’school’ she was playing with this. She pulled the current letter out (while holding herself in a standing position). Decided the letter was very interesting so she further investigated its features….this time with TWO hands. She stood there looking at it for about 10 seconds before she dropped to her bum. Once she realizes she isn’t holding on to anything…well…she drops to the floor.

She is still running with her walker in the house. This time she can go full reverse and sudden forward whenever she pleases (picture backing out of a parking space then going forward). She does this at about 45 mph. Just call her SpeedygonKayla!!

That’s about it for now. Still have to figure out the camera thing. Not sure if the pics will upload without my photoshop so….it’ll be worth a shot though. Now where is that cable???

Oh…..her standing at Christmas.

We have a little chatterbox…..well….jibber box. I will have to say though…she can say “hi” even though she says it with a ‘th’ look to the end of it.  I think she can say ‘bye’ too…..but not as certain on this one…..not very clear but she’ll repeat what I say when I saw “bye” she’ll say something that sounds the same way.

Oh…I have Kayla’s practice cake almost done…it’s turning out very cute so I’m getting excited about her REAL cake!!

Yes!! There is such thing as cake and feet in the same blog!! I’ll prove it to you!

Okay…so Bug’s b-day is coming up soon (2 months anyway)….so I’ve been getting things together for her “party.” This really is just going to consist of Mommy, Daddy, Bug, Grandma, Mimi, and possibly some aunts. So no biggie…..but it’s still her 1st. I came across a recipe on a baby food site for birthday cake. Boy am I glad I tried it out (this was two weeks ago actually). I mixed it all together – it smelled wonderful. Baked it……still smelled great. Took a bite…and gag!!! The stuff was awful!! Almost like eating bad bread!!! And that is what it tasted of. Nope….we’re going for the good stuff now since we know it tastes good!! Today….I made a recipe from my cupcake book. I first was going to make the recipe that modifies box cake. On another page there was a recipe for banana cupcakes. This is what I used. What am I making you may ask (well pretty much you all know but just go along with me now)? Well Ms. K. will have a butterfly cake of some sort. I’ll post pics of it later but now you know the idea. The ladybug will be made in a pyrex bowl.

Okay…so today….we had four on-their-way-out bananas….past the point of no return in terms of eating them by themselves.  This is why I used the banana cupcake recipe. I mixed it together (no box cake in this recipe)….put my parchment paper in the pyrex bowl (really helped get the cake out easily)…..and I was ready to go. I had some cake mix left over so I put it in an actual cake pan. It really was only 1/4 of a cake pan worth…but hey…it baked in 15 minutes. The bowl took just over an hour. Now the cakes have cooled and I’m going to practice icing. The book gave some good ideas for this so this is the part I’m really practicing for the actual in March.

I mentioned in my previous post that Kayla knows how to use her walker. She is now becoming a pro at using it. Not only does she run forward in it…..she now has the reverse in full throttle while going around something at the same time!! Oh yes….high speed!! Manuevering around corners is a breeze for her too!! Her little feet just go two hundred babies mph at a time!!

Oh..other things she can do….

* work the top she received from Grandma at Christmas. It’s an old fashioned looking metal top. She pushes the ’stick’ up and down on the carpet. It doesn’t spin by itself but she can work it.

*wave hi and bye but never on command away from us.

*Began sounding like she was saying ‘hey’ and ‘bye’ today.

*She sort of can give a high five

So there were we have it…..cake and feet in the same post….it is possible!!! On a side note:

Kayla is very good about giving sugars. This morning I asked her to give me some sugars. She was sitting in her high chair. I leaned forward to her….she gave me sugars all right…..she licked my lips. Normally she just has her mouth open and leans into you….not this morning…her mouth open and I got a surprise too. It was cute though even if I did get all wet.

Well apparently January is flying fast and is about to go away……AND I still haven’t posted anything. Well……Mel reminded me I hadn’t posted anything. So here goes…..

Today Kayla is 10 months old. This is hard to believe…..I think I say this every post……it’s just true.

Christmas has come and gone. Mom came down and we thoroughly enjoyed the quiet. Kayla didn’t really show too much excitement over everything. I think the favorite for her was just playing with the empty boxes. She would take her new balls…put them in the box….and then take them out. My favorite part was that she stood for several seconds by herself. This was even captured on camera (not sure about video since the camera died and I hadn’t watched it yet). Either way…it’s there. I’ll edit this post to add pictures. I can’t right now.

These are the things Kayla can do now:

* She no longer drinks from a bottle. Strictly sippy cup since just before Christmas. I’m working on getting her from the soft sippy to the hard.

*She can stand on her own….but she doesn’t want to. It’ll be like crawling….she’ll do it when she’s ready.

*Eating from the table more and less from the baby food (even at school).

*Says dadada a lot. Has said Mamamamama but is currently on nanananna (sounds like she wants to talk about bananas)

*Figured out how to use the walker and now ‘runs’ down the hall (did that within the week).

*Skipped her top two teeth and went to the bottom outside….she now has four bottom teeth.

*Likes to ‘dance’ to music.

*Can wear some bows in her hair. If she can reach them she pulls them out

*Loves to chat on the video

*She can blow kisses (mwaw, mwaw, mwaw….and sometimes puts her hand to her mouth to do it)

*Loves to give her babies ’sugars’

I’m sure there are other things she can do but off the top of my head I can’ t think. This just tells me I need to keep notes! haha!

Her 9 month check up – yes 1 month ago but hey it’s okay. Kayla was 29 1/2 inches long and 19.12lbs. She grew over 2 inches since her 6 month visit. I am thinking she is going to be growing a good bit between now and March as well. She just looks like a toddler now to me.

I am currently working on Kayla’s birthday party. Not that it is really going to be a PARTY but hey….it’s her birthday so we’ll have some cake…have Grandma and Mimi, and aunts….so to me it’ll be a good party for her. I am working on her cake idea….will need to practice though so I know the timing of it. Will have pictures of the actual later….so for the time being it will just have to be a surprise.

Other than that…I can’t think of much else. I’ll add pics and post more if my brain can think of some things.

Wow!! Has it really been almost a month since I posted? Have I gotten lazy? Nope!! Time just flies by when you’re having fun….as in trying to get 4 chapters of math done in a 2 wk time frame while giving 8 tests within a week…okay most of that is true with the exception of the 8 tests in a week…it was two weeks instead.

Soo…here on the home front. Christmas is all around us. Kayla doesn’t really care much about the tree. She looks at it on occassion and tries to crawl under it. She does get the uh uh when she tries to touch it. We bought her a Little People Nativity that she loves….particularly Mary, Joseph and Jesus (she chews on them the most).

She is quite mobile now. Crawling everywhere and into most everything. Pulling up most of the time. On occasion she’ll just hold on with one hand. It’s just fun to watch her scooting across the floor.

I have also been working on a quilt. This is a paying job. I pieced the quilt and mom quilted it on her machine for a friend of mine….it’s actually for her daughter. It turned out beautifully….and I’m sure Alan wanted to steal b/c it is after all in UGA colors!!! Of course he did mention to me that he would like me to finish his….well….it’s only been hanging around mom’s house now for what….3 years? It is pieced…just not quilted. Maybe by next Christmas?

What else?  Little Miss K …..or “The Princess” to some..ahem..inside joke….has been a busy little girl. Of course she has been crawling like I said…pulling up a week before crawling started…she’s now scooting along the coffee table and whatever else is in her way. It’s been so long I just don’t remember everything. This is terrible. I do believe I said she has been saying Dada. Although not saying it to Alan. Friday she said Mama…doesn’t say it much but she has said it. We can ask her (the opposite does the asking) “Where’s Dada?”" and she looks at Alan….ask her “Where’s mama?” and she looks at me. So…..maybe she’ll start saying it with the person it goes to.

Little toofies….well I’ve been waiting and waiting and waiting. Her first two teeth were so easy. I didn’t even know she was teething until they were already poking through. She’s been kind of cranky off and on lately…but without any possible illnesses (other than the explained ones). Today I noticed a new little tooth on the bottom. So soon she’ll have three….not sure about the other one on the bottom let alone the two on top that my understanding come in second. Beats me.

We got Tuesday for our 9 month check up. I do not remember if she gets shots or which one she gets. Not even sure if she’ll get her flu shot since every time we’ve gone in to get it she has had a temp within the last 24 hrs. Hmm….

We had our M-vlle Christmas this weekend. Kayla did well with all of the people. She sat quietly in a lap and just watched. Once everything was done and over with she happily played with her empty box found on the floor. She also took the building blocks she received and put them in and out of the other box. She was having a good time for sure. She also received a ride and walk lion. She can sit on it if I hold her on it. She sort of walks with it…although mostly she stands with it. I’ll insert a picture of that when I upload the picture.

Can’t think of anything else right now. Busy day tomorrow. G/ma is coming for Christmas so it will be a very enjoyable Christmas with just the four of us at home.

Merry Christmas!!

 Here we are just past Thanksgiving!! Munchkin is now 8 months (as of today!!) WOW!! So….Kayla is very mobile!! In fact…she’s discovered the front window and will now stand and pat the glass. I’m not too terribly fond of this by the fact…..she tips over and bonks her head on the glass. If the blinds weren’t in the way…the smaller window would be less “scary” to me. In no way though would I just let her do this by herself. Someone is usually with her. I just realized the pics of this are still on the camera. I’ll get those off and added to this post soon. I went outside and took a picture of her watching me. It was very cute.

Other things….Kayla has been saying “dada” for a while now…in fact…it started the same day as crawling. She also started waving about the same time. It was mostly looking at her hand and waving to her self….but now she’ll do it when someone comes into the room. And as funny as it is….mom would tell us her first word is going to be “Hey!” because we used to say it to her all of the time. Well…..she raises up that hand and says “ahh” (kind of sounds like she could be saying hey). Wonder when she’ll say mama!? Let’s practice honey….say this mmmmmmm……………..mmmmaammma. “prth prth prth….dada!!! “  Okay dear…practice time is over. *sigh*

We had a nice, quiet Thanksgiving. A’s mom came down here instead of us going her house. This is her year for Thanksgiving and then mom’s Christmas Day. The following year…opposite. We tried the round robin at Thanksgiving one time……yea…..ONE time……TOOO much travel in a short time.

Christmas is upon us! The tree is up (done Thanksgiving)….Kayla’s nativity is out (she’s particularly fond of Joseph)…..and yet…..it just doesn’t seem possible it is this near! There are pics also for this still on the camera.

OH!! Another thing Bug likes to do…..she has begun closing her eyes when I go to take a picture. I believe she sees the red light for the flash coming on….so she closes her eyes as tightly as possible and just laughs! Some of the pics turn out so cute just because of the expression…..so hopefully she won’t do this on our Christmas picture. We may just have one like that. We’ll have to see.

Has it been that long since I’ve posted anything on here? Really!? Every time I turn around a good bit of time has passed. Let’s see…..what’s been going on here.

Kayla is definitely on the go now! Everywhere…but try to keep her in one room and away from things she doesn’t need to be near. Her favorite thing to do right now is pull up. She tries on everything. She has even managed to stand up and hold on one handed (while leaning toward) to her basket of toys. We’ve had some falling downs though. In fact she had a nice bump on her head from bumping it at day care. I believe she’s keep up with her little friends that are walking around the room now. I can see this is her goal…..oh yea….she told me it was!! She jsut didn’t tell me WHEN she plans on figuring it out. The thing she normally does is act totally oblivious to knowing how to do a particular thing until she’s ready. Last week she ALL OF A SUDDEN “knew” how to hold her sippy cup. Hmm……

Soon after (and in fact I believe it was the same day) Kayla began to say Dada…she does do it while sticking her tongue out…but it’s really cute! So now of course I am practicing the Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm mammma!! LOL! She just giggles when I say mama! Oh well…..I guess I’m just that funny!!

Here’s a pic of her in her ladybug outfit. She was such a cutie!! It was like 100 degrees that day (really probably in the 70’s) so I had to take it off since she got sweaty. Stripped her down to just her red onsie. So she looked cute while it lasted.

yep….mobility.  Kayla is beginning to crawl. She’s been trying regularly for a while now…but wouldn’t go but two knees across the floor. This morning she went across the floor. So I have posted a video of her this afternoon and have added it to this post.

Other things….munchkin is pulling up to her feet too. She is doing it regularly at daycare. She bumped her head on Monday and has a little bruise on her forehead. The bumps and bruises I believe are going to begin as well.

Tomorrow we have our fall festival at church. I am hoping the rain will hold out so Kayla can go. She’ll be so cute in her ladybug costume if I do say so myself. We’ll be visiting a couple of people that want to see her in her costume.

So…you know how Monday Kayla figured out how to sit up on her own? Well…..now she has decided that makes her a “big girl” so she doesn’t have to take naps. She likes to now sit up in her crib and let you know she’s not happy….even though she’s half asleep doing this. *sigh* AND she sort of “scoots” on the floor but still has one leg where it would be if she were sitting up. I came to school to pick her up on Thursday and she was trying to scoot toward a little boy who had a rather interesting toy to her. So yes….mobility is coming. She’s ready to go..and mommy and daddy are not ready for this!! AHHH!!! I think she might skip walking and just straight to running marathons!
